Aachen Cathedral, also known as the Kaiserdom of Aachen, is one of the most splendid buildings in Europe.

 

Aachen Cathedral is a church of great historical value. Built by Charlemagne in 805 AD, its unique design has been very influential in the German church architecture.

Aachen Cathedral remains one of the oldest churches in Germany and contains lots of valuable objects from the Middle Ages. It is a very important historical site too. Its treasury includes the Cross of Lothar or the Persephone Sacrophagus. The cathedral was the coronation church of more than 30 kings.

 

It was one of the first sites to enter the UNESCO World Heritage site. The Cathedral is the main attraction of the city of Aachen.
